I want a great bass system, but don't want to sweat the details. Check out our bass packages. Our experts have put these together to make selecting all the right components easier — some packages include everything you need, right down to speaker wire.
Nice big display. With a large screen acting as your receiver's display, it's a whole lot easier to read than the 2- or 3-line displays of typical car receivers. You'll enjoy being able to read more information about what you're listening to. Bigger icons, split-screen capability, and more screen real estate add up to a satisfying car audio experience. You'll be able to keep your eyes on the road a whole lot better if you're not squinting at your display, or waiting for the info to scroll by. In fact, everything you do with your receiver is easier when you have a large, touchscreen interface. Here are some examples of how these receivers can make your drive much easier.
A more economical way to upgrade your sound system without changing the factory receiver or speakers is to get a compact 4-channel amp to boost the power for your front and rear speakers. The Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack and the Clarion XC1410 4-channel amp are two examples of amplifiers that are small enough that they can be installed behind many dashboards and powerful enough to dramatically increase the quality and clarity of your sound. Both of these amps, as well as many others available at Crutchfield, feature inputs that can handle the high-level signal from the vehicle's factory speaker wiring. Look for an amplifier with "speaker-level inputs" as one of its features if you want to add it to a factory system.
Ported boxes: For forceful bass. Ported boxes use a vent (called a port) to reinforce low bass response. You get more output than you would from a sealed box at any given amplifier wattage. Some people prefer the sound of ported boxes for rock, heavy metal, or any hard-driving music. Ported boxes can deliver deeper bass than sealed boxes, though they need to be much larger than sealed enclosures to accomplish that.
